Costruzioni Novicrom has defined its climate change mitigation and adaptation objectives based on scientific criteria, in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) methodology.

Using 2020 as a baseline, the company has committed to achieving a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030, consistent with its decarbonization path compatible with the 1.5°C climate target. This reduction corresponds to an annual linear contraction of 4.2%.

Scope 2 emissions are calculated using a market-based approach, considering that the company’s energy needs are met both by self-generation and by energy purchased from suppliers using renewable sources. The results achieved in 2024 are already in line with the target set for Scope 2.

As regards Scope 3, which mainly consists of emissions deriving from staff commuting, the target is also a 42% reduction by 2030 compared to the 2020 baseline, in line with the SBTi 1.5°C pathway and aligned with the approach adopted for Scopes 1 and 2.

• Using reconditioned rags to replace disposable rags in production activities, significantly reducing waste.
• Introduction of recyclable pallets to reduce wood consumption and promote material reuse.
• Installation of a new photovoltaic system in the Logistics area, which will guarantee an additional +77 kW of power from renewable sources.
• Adoption of oil spill prevention measures, through dedicated procedures and the use of special safety containers under drums, to eliminate any risk of dispersion.
• Performing checks for any gas leaks, in addition to the checks required by law, with periodic inspections of the pipes using leak detectors.
• Monitoring water meters by comparing consumption over time, allowing for timely identification of leaks or anomalies.

• Installation of lighting in processing and office areas completed.
• Optimization of electricity consumption in production areas with specific criteria for turning devices on and off.
• Rainwater collection began using dedicated collection tanks.
